Dental implant pain is relatively unknown for a lot of people, so it does concern many patients that implant treatment will hurt. Fortunately, Dream Dental Implant Center has multiple options to help our patients remain comfortable during treatment, and we have an effective post-surgery plan to limit pain.

What is the All-on-4® Dental Implants procedure?

All on four dental implants will replace all of the teeth for upper or lower implant needs. In fact, you could replace all of your teeth in one day! It is important to make an appointment in our Salt Lake dental implant office to determine the best treatment option. There are multiple advantages to all on 4 dental implants including:

  • Reduced cost
  • Placing implants on the same day as extractions (in some cases)
  • No bone grafting (for some patients)

Does it Hurt?

Will all on 4 dental implants hurt? Generally speaking, the only pain you will feel is minor discomfort. Patients will need anesthesia to numb the areas where we are working so you do not feel pain during the procedure. We do provide other medications for patients that need help calming their nerves during the procedure. Following the procedure, patients will experience minor pain. Typically, the pain can be controlled with medications to reduce inflammation and swelling. If needed, we will prescribe medications to help with the healing process. The discomfort is minimal and normally subsides within a few days.

Should I Take off Time from Work?

We will discuss the treatment with you prior to the procedure to ensure you are prepared for the treatment. Everyone’s body reacts differently and some people will end up needing multiple days to recover while other people feel better in a day. It all depends on your schedule and how you handle pain and recovery.
