Today is your special day! This is where your life will change forever. When you walk into our office you may not have the best smile. When you leave that same day you will look completely different. Surgery will take most of the day. We typically start around 7:00 am and will run till late afternoon. But you will not know it because you will enjoy sedation thru out the whole surgery. 1-3 Week Post Op
After your surgery you have been requested to come back for a post surgery exam visit. At this visit you may have a new CT scan taken and possible individual x-rays of the implant(s) placed at surgery. The doctor will check the surgical area for proper healing, and ask about your current comfort level. If you have non-dissolvable sutures, they are likely removed at 3 weeks post surgery. After your surgery we like to keep track of your healing and progress. At this visit you may have a new CT scan taken and possible individual x-rays of the implant(s) placed at surgery. 6 Month Post Op
At 6 months we expect implants to be healed and well integrated. At this visit you may have a new CT scan taken and possible individual x-rays of the implant(s) placed at surgery. We will test each implant for integration. Examine your tissue for any sore spots or inflammation. If you have a temporary appliance or device your bite and fit will be checked and adjusted if needed. At this appointment we will be preparing to make your final appliance. The doctor will check the health of the tissue and make sure it is viable to take the final impression. The assistant will prepare the implants to make sure the impression will be accurate. The assistant will then take the necessary impressions and have them checked off by the facilitating doctor. You will discuss what you want your new smile to look like. You will pick a shade; we will measure and evaluate your face to determine the proper tooth size and shape. AESTHETIC TRY IN
At this appointment you will be able to try your proposed smile in wax. The assistant and doctor will take measurements and photos to evaluate if the smile design is fitting for you. You will be able to see your smile and have input into the design and looks of the appliance. This appliance try in will most likely not fit well as this is to strictly determine the looks of the final device. FINAL APPLIANCE DELIVERY
At this visit you will be receiving your final appliance!!! We will be making adjustments as needed to the bite and fit for perfect comfort and function. This device is new to you and will feel different than your temporary device. You may experience a change in your speech, this will get easier with practice as you get use to your new device. You will want to take it slow beginning eating new foods, start with cutting things up and chewing slow for your first few meals. When that becomes easy, feel free to eat whatever you would like! BITE CHECK AFTER DELIVERY
Congratulations on your new smile! You now have the freedom to eat the foods you love and enjoy your investment! Keep in mind this is a brand new device and you will experience a new fit and feel and there will be an adjustment phase getting used to your new appliance. Once you have been able to use your new device and get more accustomed to the feel and function, we like to see you back for another check up. Is this procedure painful?
The pain level is different for each patient. The staff here at Dream Dental use unique techniques to minimalize pain level. Each patient receives IV sedation that the patient won’t feel anything during procedure. Most patients are surprised at how little the pain was.
What is the recovery time?
Most of our patients report that they didn’t experience significant discomfort. Typically we see a patient go back to work only a few days after the procedure. You will be on a soft diet while the swelling and implants heal.
